» I fell over... oops! Should I go to the doctor?

I'm currently 6 months pregnant. Last night I was out shopping when I slipped over - much to the amusement to other shoppers I'm sure! ;) I really twisted my knee and hurt my back (fell on my bum). I've had really bad abdominal cramping these past few weeks which my midwives have said is totally normal, but now it is about 10 times worse! I don't have any bleeding, and I feel fine otherwise, I am just really sore and hobbling around with an aching knee, abdomen and back. This is my first pregnancy so I don't want to be blasé about it, but at the same time I don't want to be a drama queen... Thanks ladies.Your baby should be fine :) They are very well protected in your belly, especially since you f...... - 2010-03-13

» Which one is sterile ? 1- blood 2-stool 3-wound swab 4-throat swab?

only one can choose thanks for helpingBlood. All the rest will contain some flora, not necessarily pathogenic, (if you think about it, mouth, stool and wound are all pretty dirty places). The answer is actually 5 - none of them are in reality. However I think the answer your looking for is Blood. Blood contains microorganisms, just a whole lot less than the others, you release a whole load of bacteria into your blood stream even when you brush your teeth. This is called a bacteremia. If you immune system was poor this may turn into septicemia, which is like a bacterimia that's gone a bit out of control.Unless a person is septic, the blood should be sterile. The other 3 can be loaded with all kinds of nasty pathogens!...... - 2010-03-13

» Canon 350D - niggling question

Does anyone know why the door protecting the interface sockets on this camera (and I suspect other Canons) is a funny little piece of rubber with an odd hinge? It always feels as if it's about to break off. Edit: I think I've just worked it out. They didn't make it detachable in case it got lost and they made it out of rubber so that it won't break if it gets knocked. Does that sound about right? That's how it works on mine. But you're right, it doesn't feel too sturdy does it. No signs it's going to fall off any time soon, but it does seem a little reluctant to stay fully closed these days.Ah... took me a while to realise which "door" you are talking about, but yes, it has always felt a bit flimsy to me, but I have opened and shut ...... - 2010-03-13

» Chasing Structure in the Southwest Monsoon

Hi folks, This is my first post. I really appreciate the wealth of experience being shared here, and I've been absorbing loads of information and inspiration throughout the site. I have had a long interest in observing and photographing thunderstorms and other atmospheric phenomena, but recently I've been trying to move my understanding of storm structure and behavior up a few notches. I live in Flagstaff, Arizona, and get to watch some beautiful storms build and live their short lives on almost a daily basis during the summer monsoon. This summer, I put a little more effort than usual in watching for more robust storms and trying to catch a rare Arizona funnel cloud in the act. I'm not surprised that I wasn't successful, but stor...... - 2010-03-13

i always hear ppl saying "oh that's weird, that person is kinda unusual, wierd" but i dont think there is a "normal", i mean doesn't everybody get "wierd" sometimes. it seems like ppl are just out for power, fame, and popularity, so they point out what is "wierd" and what is not. when i think i can see right through them. i mean, u don't know who they are behing closed doors. they just look really stupid to me. like the other day my friend called this chick wierd and crazy cause she acted out, got really angry but he does the same thing sometimes when he's angry. everybody is wierd in one way or another. right??? » Does the body of a 1994 mustang fit a 1998 mustang gt?

I was thinking about repairing large dents in the left front and also the lights and front bumper of a 1998 mustang GT with parts from a 94. Would these parts fit?Yep, body-wise all 94-98 pieces are compatible. Some parts are different like the 94-95 taillights are horizontal while the 96-98 are vertical, but they should still fit.its all the same. hoods from 94's sometimes had delaminating issues, but are usually fine. I think it was recalled, the only one i ever saw it happen to was mine.body wise all 94-98 should work since they are all the same. Motor wise 94-95 uses the 5.0 and 96-98 use the 4.6 which is really the only differenceYES it's considered a Sn 95 and they will interchange body parts. It's the same basic body....... - 2010-03-13

hey. i go to Penn State-Abington, a relatively small college. about 15 others including myself are just starting up a photography club. » Single gender schools ?

I am doing a survey on single gender schools. I need about three responses on this question. Are single gender schools beneficial to learning? People I need to answer this question are teachers principals and any one that works in the school department. Please state what you do when you answer my question! Learning is the key goal for these schools. Without any academic success record they wouldn't survive. However the secret of learning revolves around the student's own learning style. Similar to personality traits , Students that have learning styles that are more slanted towards a pragmatic or logical approach tend to do better at a single sex school than a mixed school. After a particularly hard year that you don't really care to share, do you feel like this as you sit to pen a cheery, newsy greeting? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55wWiFi6B... No, I do not. 'Brag' letters is a good way to describe them I suppose. But what I find somewhat irritating with the way those letters (so called) have evolved is that they are nothing but 'form letters.' A short, personal note on the card itself is much more preferable than a 'form letter.' I get enough of those from Yahoo...I don't need, or want them, from so called friends and/or family. sigh and your 'Great Pretender' point is very well taken. » New to TPF, Questions!

Hello! I'm looking forward to spending more time with this community as I gradually get back into photography. I took photography for 2 1/2 years when I was in high school. I'm currently a junior in college and I want to get back into it. I was gifted a Nikon N80, but the problem is that film and paper are very expensive and the process is incredibly time consuming. I have a large courseload and I don't have the time to really spend on developing film and hanging around enlargers all day. I still would like to explore film photography so I have no intention of selling my N80, but I would like to make the shift and purchase a DSLR. Now, I am limited to Nikon because I already have a Nikon lens. I'm currently looking at the D40 but I'm wo...... - 2010-03-13

Hi all! I am new to photography and I just got a new camera. It is a Sony DSC-H50. I took these two pictures of my son playing. I was wondering what you thought of the quality. I want to make sure I get the best out of my camera. I messed around with them in photoshop ( cropped and did auto level contrast and color, and sharpened). They look too noisy to me. » Sam playing poker about Diouf?

Hi, Do you get the sense that Sam Allardyce is distancing himself from Diouf in interviews and condemning Diouf's actions lately to sour Liverpool's appetite for the player? Sam wants to lower Diouf's transfer cost prior to negotiations. I have especially been struck that Diouf has not said anything to the press about his manager's unkind words about him, and in fact appears to be playing with great dedication and spirit for his manager, as if he is in on the ploy. Thoughts? It's been rumoured that he's been doing it all season. Whatever way I expect Diouf to be a Bolton player next season for next to nothing.I wonder how nuch of hid behavior has been part of this strategy. He did not seem to mind at all geting red carded in the FA ...... - 2010-03-13

» Restoring an old mis-printed color image

This is my first post to these forums, I'm have some basic photography and editing skills but this is a challenge I'm not quite up to. The image is an old color postcard from the 1940s, a picture of my hometown, I want to make an enlargement but there's a defect that really hurts the image. It appears that when the image was printed, the yellow portion was not aligned properly with the other colors, hence the objects in the photo all have yellow shadows (sort of like seeing double). I have Corel Photopaint here, it has advanced features such as splitting color channels, but having never done anything this advanced I have no idea where to start. » Had a weird dream lastnight that I was shot and thought I was dying. Can anyone interpret this dream?

So I was with my boyfriend and a couple of his friends at a mall that I haven't been to in years because they have absolutely no good stores, but they suggested it. I walked in and saw they actually had some nice clothing so I was looking at it with one of my boyfriend's friends while him and his other guy friends went to check out something else. I saw a dress that I LOVED and actually fit me (nothing fits me cause im so tiny). My boyfriend's friend went over to look at some guys clothing while I continued to look at the other stuff when all of a sudden I hear screams and people running around. I was so confused until I saw a man with dark hair running across the store (it was nordstrom so it was very large) yelling and hold...... - 2010-03-13

With Fulham leaving, Brentford not interested in a groundshare, and London Wasps not ready to come back (although seemingly under contract to do so after next season), Rangers are currently without the rental income this season that would help the club so much financially. There has been movement by a group consisting of South African interests, Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga, and a New Zealand businessman buying a Rugby Union club, moving it to Loftus Road, renaming it London Tribe, and stocking it with good numbes of players from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Polynesia. They've targeted West London as a location due to the large numbers of ex-pats from these nations in the area. This May 29th article from the Sou...... - 2010-03-13

What is the length of an F0, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5?There is no given length associated with this f-scale. This tornado f-scale is based on the damage done by a tornado. How long the track of the tornado on the ground is not one of the factors used to rate the F-scale of any given tornado. The F-scale (based on Ted Fujita's research) originally rated tornadoes based on damage. Strangely, a weak tornado could get a higher rating than a strong one if it caused more damage. Still, scientists tended to cheat to keep the ratings sensible. A monster tornado damaging a forest would get a high rating simply by claiming the damaged trees were valuable. Honestly, I don't know if the scale has been modified to include estimated wind speeds ...... - 2010-03-13

» Blu-ray Disc VS HD DVD

2008/02/16 Toshiba announced withdrawal of HD DVD. http://www.chugoku-np.co.jp/News/Sp200802170097.html Blu-ray Disc of Sony became next generation DVD. I did not buy software of HD DVD. I can buy PS3 in thisI suspected that Blu-ray would eventually come out on top. Might be because the Sony name behind it.I think that the main thing that Blu-Ray had going for it in specification terms is that it is capable of holding much more data than an HD-DVD can. I've read somewhere that that was a big reason why VHS beat out Betamax, even though the picture quality on Beta was better than VHS.Well more data is more data. Its always good to be one step ahead.Wal-Mart also announced a couple of days ago that they would no longer sell HD-DVD's but...... - 2010-03-13

» Taking a cam into a public toilet

I was reading Havoc’s post on past date film and when people started talking about freezing and condensation, I was reminded of some advice i was given by a sales person at the Eden Project.which is a glorified green house. I had forgotten to bring a camera(???) and had decided to purchase a Fuji Disposable, however before I entered the Tropical Biome, the sales assistant advised me to unwrap the camera and take it into the toilets and run it under a hot air hand dryer, the reasoning behind this was to heat up the camera so that when I entered the Tropical Biome condensation would not form inside the cam. The looks I had from people inside the toilet when I whipped out a camera and started “drying” it have put me off d...... - 2010-03-13

So does it because i have been drinking uncaffeinated soda and other things ever since i was 4 till 11 and even then i still consumed a lot of coffeine. Now im 12 and 5 foot 8. By the way when i was 4 to 10 i've only drunken soda and no water and occasionally tea and juice. Not as far as I know. Your gene pool decides your size. Caffeine is normally consumed with sugar. Even without sugar it causes a glycemic spike. But other than that I should not have to great an effect. You would not be able to consume enough to seriously harm yourself.I drink way too many sodas a day and about 2 cups of coffee every day. sometimes a jolt about once a week. On Saturday I broke my fibula in a game of tackle football. Initial diagnosis is that I have a Spiral Fracture a little more than halfway up my leg (closer to me knee) and a severely sprained ankle. I go to get the final diagnosis from the orthopedist sometime this week. Everything online that I have seen about fracture to the fibula has been based on a break close to the ankle. I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference in recovery time, strength of the healed bone after healing, and timetable of healing between the area of the breaks? So far I have done this correctly and RollOut works as well. My second thing I want the button to do is strobe when clicked on (onPress). Well I did that as well, but after I have clicked it, it will also do the RollOut as well and I have to hold down the mouse button for it to complete the onPress action. It all looks funky when I click on it. RollOver and Rollout are fine....... - 2010-03-13

He was just starting to play well at the left back position too. It's ashame. Pancaro will probably start against Brugge and Kaladze should be back soon so we shouldn't have any problems at left back. Does FSW have EPL broadcast rights for next (2003-4) season?Any idea how much it would cost to get the live weekend broadcast rights instead of having them on PPV?I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe FSW owns all the EPL rights, but chooses to put the main live weekend games on PPV to make some money. So I don't see the games coming free to FSW any time in the near future -- there has to be too much money in the PPV/soccer bar scene for FSW to want to give it up. Not that I wouldn't mind saving the $269 I spent on the PPV package this season!Originally posted by da_cfo Yes. International rights to EPL are up for renewal after next season. Expect NewsCorp to bid for the rights to EPL again for the US and Ca...... - 2010-03-13

» Polygon / side question?

If I have a ten sided polygon, would 10 - 2 x 180° [divided by] 10 = 144° ? so therefore, that's how my polygon sides would be?it would be [(n-2) x 180]/n so you have 10 sides 10-2=8 8x180=1440 1440/10 is 144 You are correct.that's how big each interior angle would be for a regular 10-gon as a check: each exterior angle would be 360 / 10 = 36 interior + exterior angles must add to 180 144 + 36 = 180 checks so each interior angle for a 10-gon would be 144 degrees by the way: the formula for interior angles is derived from the fact that given n sides, you can create n - 2 triangles, each of which contain 180 degrees thus total number of interior degrees is (n - 2) * 180, and since there are n sides (and n...... - 2010-03-13

» "With" my purse stolen,

As my purse was stolen, I couldn't help feeling helpless. =( ) my purse stolen, I couldn't but feel helpless. The answer was "Having". Would "With" for the parentheses wrong? With my purse stolen, I couldn't but feel helpless. What is the context of this? Is this from a workbook or something? Did you have choices to choose from? It's part of her homework ? (my guess)"Having" and "As" both imply that the purse was in the process of or had recently been stolen. "With my purse stolen" has no implications about when it happened. Both of those sentences sound unnatural. "I felt helpless after my purse was stolen" or "Because my purse was stolen, I felt helpless" sounds more like the way this would be said. I agree with Geostigma ...... - 2010-03-13

» How and how often should I clean the condenser coils on my refrigerator?

Before cleaning the condenser coils, unplug the refrigerator to avoid a shock hazard. The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor. Rear-Mounted Coils You should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without help. Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator. Floor Level Coils You should c...... - 2010-03-13

» My Daughter

Messing around with the lights tonight and I think this one was my favourite. C&C Welcomed. http://www.artzam.com/picblog/images/20071014213019_portrait1.jpgYour daughter has beautiful skin. This is a wonderful portrait. You did very well with the lighting IMO. The only thing I would do is 'clean' the whites of her eyes just a bit, and maybe use the dodge tool to brighten the iris slightly. A reflector on the shadow side may have worked well too. Nonetheless, it is very well done! What did you use for lens and focal length?Wow, she is very beautiful. She will be a heartbreaker one day. I love the pose you used for this shot. Nice work.perfect...put it on the wall!Wow. Your going to have trouble when she grows up. I agree wit...... - 2010-03-13

» culture::petty crimes

Protect your umbrellas and bicycles! These are the 2 most stolen things in Japan. Well, sorry, no stats to back this up but I've heard enough stories. Umbrellas, well, they good as gone. Your bicycle if found you're lucky. The Police do check the train and subway stations frequently to find a missing bicycle. If by chance they find the culprit, that person only needs to say, "I was just borrowing it and was planning to return it!" which then leads to a scolding at best. shoplifting, interestingliy enough has also increased among elder housewives who just couldn't resist putting a $2 bag of NORI (edible seaweed) in her purse. Result if caught, a scolding by the store manager and if unlucky by the store undercover granny! O...... - 2010-03-13

» Can you critique this passage I wrote?

I just cranked this out after I woke up suddenly at like 12:00 A.M. and I'm not really sure where it came from. Can you give some feedback please? Yes, I know it's pretty crappy and there's a lot of mistakes but that's because I typed it at midnight when I was just awake. It wasnâ ™t a particularly quiet day. The habitually biting winds of early fall had morphed into breezes as soft as fur that brought tiny snow flurries, that were so small I couldnâ ™t be sure they were there, whispering along my cheek. Towering golden wheat grasses tickled at my knees and the wind sighed into the trees, sending frantic dashes of crimson leaves swirling in a powerful dance to ebb into the grasses. Though the branches and leaves o...... - 2010-03-13

» How to get my mom to chill out about piercings (read more)?

I have been having some problems with my mom and her worrying about my recent conch and helix piercings (14g both) that they and the industrial I want (14g also) will keep me out of a professional job whenever I graduate college in the next couple of years. I have tried to tell her its cool because a 14g hole is small and isn't the same thing as a higher guaged hole like she has seen kids with (olike the 2g and 0g earrings at the hospital where she works). I even showed her a 14g earring and she was like that is still pretty big. She and I got into an argument about it last night and I was like how come you say you don't care and you keep on going on about how a hole that little is real big to you. I mean, I don't get it. I k...... - 2010-03-13
